Fatherhood Forum: Collaboration

Last week the Center for Public and Nonprofit Management at UCF welcomed the US Administration for Children and Families and approximately 100 people representing local government, nonprofit, faith-based, and private organizations to the university. They convened a forum on strengthening fatherhood and families. I had the privilege not only to welcome them to the university but to give a presentation on collaboration and coalition building. Download the presentation here.

I was, of course, deeply impressed by the passion in the room. Community leaders asking: how can we do better working together to ensure young men taking their parental responsibilities seriously and have the tools they need to be successful. President Obama has focused some on this issue, and now personally having seen first hand how unprepared fathers can do harm and may even be abusive, I have a deep respect for the work of these leaders.

I promised the participants that I would post my presentation here, and so I have, with a hearty thank you for your service and good work. I hope to have the chance to work with you in the future.

And before I sign off, because I know my father reads this blog, I say an even more hearty: thank you. I have the opportunity to do this kind of work thanks in no small measure to you and your support.
